About West Point aka Leo

Leo was bred in Cream Ridge, NJ by the well respected Perretti Farms. The sale topper at the 2003 Harrisburg sale, Leo sold for $160,000 USD as a yearling. However, after swapping owners a number of times and never finding the winners circle, it became clear that harness racing was not his forte. Leo was retired from racing to a new home by then trainer/owner Kelly Hoerdt. At this point in time Charlene was looking for a nice, quiet reliable trail horse and saw Leo’s ad posted online. Within an hour of meeting it was clear that Leo was the horse she was looking for.

Charlene and Leo now share an incredible bond and can be found regularly around Alberta competing in the sport of Eventing, and promoting both the Standardbred breed and horse racing industry.
